Finding neither the motivation nor the appropriate set of words to describe its scarcity or remedy, I've been occupying myself by counting down the day in blocks of time at work. A podcast occupies 30 to 50 minutes; I give myself 25 minutes to scroll through RSS feeds to see if anything interesting arises; a walk to refill my water bottle takes exactly 6 minutes from my desk. Mostly I wonder if anybody notices I have not done any work for days - my boss offers that I am intended to provide thought leadership for the team, and that perhaps because I am directing, not performing tasks, that I should feel this way. I'd like to feel more productive, and labor towards more tangible output.
